Monday Diary: Just Start

Hello there, Happy Monday! I am really looking forward to this blog post and the ones to come after. It has been in the back of my mind for a while: the idea of having a bit more meaningful conversation once a week.

From the conception of The Girl from Connecticut, I aimed to only focus on style, beauty, and a sprinkle of lifestyle here and there. But as I am evolving (and getting older), I want to go back to the days when blogs were insightful, thoughtful, and community-driven. I figured it was time for a change or for me to change. I knew I wanted to take the plunge and share life thoughts (even if it’s just one person reading). Substack has become the ignition for long-form content and blog-style writing that had slowly dwindled over the years. Ultimately, I decided I didn’t need another platform to share my POV when I already created one.

So here we are! The first of hopefully many more Monday Diaries.

I think about why it has taken me so long to launch this series. I realized it was a combination of things.

  1. I was a bit apprehensive and, dare I say, negative? The truth is, I figured no one would be interested in what I have to say.
  2. I was not making the time to simply start. For months, I was always writing it on the endless to-do list, but never acting on it.

I recently came across a quote by Emma Grede in which she says

“You will never feel ready. Just start, and then refuse to stop.”

The matter of fact is, once you get out of your way, you realize you have nothing to lose but everything to gain. That is the approach I am taking for the remainder of the year and into 2026.

Think of today as a reset button. What are some things you want to start but have not yet? Well, it is time to simply start and finish the year knowing you are capable of whatever you set your mind to. Just remember, every business started with zero dollars, and every writer started with the first word. The best thing I could have done for myself was to start this blog in 2015. Back then, I had no idea what I was doing, or truly what I would share, but I will forever be grateful that I did write that first post (no matter how cringe I think it is today) because it has led me here.

Lastly, I have one more quote that I really like and it is from Mel Robins, she says

“Nobody owes you anything, but YOU owe yourself everything.”

  1. This was a lovely post to get more intimate with your thoughts and what you are working on πŸ™‚ With anything, the hardest part is just to start, but then once you find your momentum, it’s smooth sailing from there – we may hit obstacles along the way, but the most important thing is to keep going. Time to lock in! Thanks for this post πŸ’• Looking forward to the next one.
