Monday Diary: Holiday Activities I Look Forward To

And just like that, December is here! I am a sucker for this time of the year. So much excitement in the air: the tree to decorate (if you haven’t already), the holiday dinners to attend, the catch-ups with friends, and, of course, the act of giving as we curate the best gifts for friends and family.

As we enter different stages in our lives, family traditions change. What used to excite us may not anymore. For me, the holiday season has been and remains my favorite time of year. There is nothing like belting out Mariah Carey or snuggling up to watch the same Christmas movies on repeat.

One tradition that my family has maintained over the last several years is doing Secret Santa. It has become a fun way to swap gifts without having to think about something for each member. We make a whole evening out of it before Christmas with a delicious meal prepared by Mom, and then get into all the fun and games before the gift swap.

Here are a few more things I look forward to doing this Christmas Season:

  1. Watching The Holiday and Love Actually on repeat
  2. Curating my perfect holiday playlist
  3. Visiting the local holiday markets
  4. Making spiked hot chocolate and drinking from a festive mug
  5. Going to my friend’s annual holiday party
  6. A trip to NYC to see the tree at Rockefeller Center
  7. Baking holiday cookies and other delicious treats

Other activities that can be fun:

  1. Host a cookie swap party (Something I hope to do next year! I’ve been to a few and they are so fun)
  2. Go ice skating
  3. Have dinner at a holiday-themed restaurant
  4. Read a book based on the holiday time
  5. Design your own wrapping paper
  6. Perfect a winter cocktail

What are some traditions or activities you look forward to?
