Four Ice Cream Spots to Try in Fairfield County

I thought this post was fitting to share since today marks National Ice Cream Day! Here are four of my favorite ice cream spots in Fairfield County. Check them out before summer ends!

Sweet Scoops

Location: Brookfield, CT

Your neighborhood ice cream shop that is open all year round! They offer a range of delicious flavors from classics to new experimental ones. Family-run and owned, this local shop is definitely worth supporting.

Ferris Acres

Location: Newtown, CT

A summer must-have! The creamery was established in 2003 and, to this day, is still run by family members, a few generations later. They are only open from late spring to early fall. My favorite flavor is Cow Trax (pictured), which is vanilla with peanut butter, caramel, mini-chocolate chips, and just to be extra, I add Heath bar to my order!

Rich Farm

Location: Oxford, CT

Ice cream made daily, the line speaks for itself. My family would frequent this place often, waiting in line for an hour to enjoy a sweet treat.

Shortt’s Farm and Ice Cream

Location: Sandy Hook, CT

A recent discovery but oh so delicious! They have a farmers market open where you can shop for fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs, and, of course, get some ice cream. My favorite flavor is pistachio (pictured). It’s by far the best with the nuts mixed in.
