The last few months of summer are notorious for going by faster than we can keep up with, and especially now that we have entered August, vacation season is starting to slow down. The good news is that there are still activities that you can do this summer to take full advantage of the season.
RENT A BOAT OR JET SKI
Boating is probably the number one activity done during the summer. There are so many marinas around that have boats and jet skis for rent at an affordable price. Boating is a great way to entertain friends and family, making it a wonderful day of spontaneity.
GO WINE TASTING
I visited a vineyard for the first time last summer (see post here) and it was a really fun experience. Wine tasting is perfect to do with friends, family, or even a great date idea. During the evening there is an ambiance that is very relaxing and casual.
SHOP AT A LOCAL FARMERS MARKET
There is nothing better than taking advantage of the fresh produce and handmade products that are sold during the summer. It is a great way to support local businesses too!
ATTEND A COOKING CLASS
It is always so much easier to go to a sit-down restaurant, but I think it would be really fun to be the one behind the stove learning how to cook a gourmet meal. This could be a fun experience with friends or even with a significant other.
EAT FRESH ICE CREAM
Going to the dairy farm rates really high on my summer activities list. I mean who doesn’t like icecream?
EAT DINNER ON THE BEACH
There is something really enjoyable about going to the beach to watch the sunset while eating dinner. Make this an easy picnic-style dinner or bring your favorite take out. Grab a blanket and relax.
VISIT THE MET
Every summer I try to visit the Met museum at least once. I typically go because I am interested in seeing the fashion exhibit. If you haven’t gone yet this summer, you should!
GO TO A BASEBALL GAME
Baseball games are a lot of fun to attend. Honestly, I do not know what is going on half the time but still entertaining none the less. I have gone to games with friends and family, even in a huge group during my interning days! Do not hesitate to go if you are not a huge baseball follower, you may surprise yourself and have a ton of fun.
WALK THE HIGH LINE IN NYC
I did this for the first time this summer! The High Line is only about 1 mile long but it is filled with places to sit, beautifully scenic views, and well-maintained gardens.
HOST A POTLUCK LUNCH OR DINNER
A great way to end the season is getting your family and friends together to host a potluck meal. Potlucks are great because you do not end up having to do all the cooking! These meals are super casual and fun.
