Easy and Affordable Ways to Stay Active This Summer

This summer I’ve made a vow to myself to be more active! This past year I have made countless excuses as to why I didn’t feel like working out which in the long run has made it harder for me to get back into the habit of exercise. 

I knew I had to make a change in my life when I noticed that most of my days seemed to be overwhelming, uninspired, and most of all really stressed. There are so many research articles out there listing the benefits and importance of exercise for physical and mental health. 

Here’s a list of easy ways to pump up your endorphins:

GYM MEMBERSHIP

I have a few friends who have a gym membership and love it! Once you sign up, inquire about a personal trainer. If within budget, it will not only keep you financially accountable but also an appointment that you make time for that you will not want to miss. 

FIND OUT WHAT YOUR TOWN HAS TO OFFER

There are many towns that have recreation centers that are complete with a track, basketball court, a gym, and many more activities. Find out what they have to offer residents and sign up! They may even have workout classes too which can be a great way to meet new people and may motivate you to want to keep going. 

YOUTUBE 

Youtube is such a great resource for exercise. Anything that you are looking to do you can find there and the best part is that it is FREE! My favorite exercise youtuber is Cassey Ho from Blogilates. Her workouts are super easy to follow and challenging. 

NIKE APP

I have been using this app more recently when I am at home and it is another great free resource. They have every category so you can easily pick and choose what you want to work on each day. 

Sidenote: there a ton of great apps that you can download. I suggest researching them before to see if it is one that will work for you. A lot of women use the Sweat app for the BBG program, however, there is a monthly or annual fee. 

START WITH A WALK

The most basic thing we can do is start walking. During the summer make it your mission to walk 30 min a week and then increase it! If you have a dog, make it so you and your dog can get some exercise at the same time.

  1. I never thought I’d be someone who looked forward to their next workout, but here I am! I found walking at least 30 min a day with lifestyle changes such as eating healthier made me feel so good. Then from there, my workouts got more intense. My Apple watch actually holds me accountable and makes me challenge myself based on my day-to-day activities!!

  2. I love this post as I can relate to myself so strongly! My favorite is starting with a walk! I know it’s so hard to get out when we’re so comfortable at home. But once you take your first walk, your seconds and thirds will be easier and will form a habit before you even realized! Can’t wait to be more consistent with my exercise this summer too!
