I have a very simple skin care routine. I find that when it comes to using products on my face, less is more. Over the last couple of years I have been trying out new products that really work for my skin and provide the results that I want. I have oily skin, so I like to try to keep my skin as clear as possible so that breakouts can be minimized.
For about five years I have been using the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick for my lips. I can not say enough good things about this product. It leaves my lips feeling so buttery and soft, not to mention it last a long time. I am so hooked on this product that if I use any other chapstick I feel like I am betraying my holy grail! I am not kidding, it is that good 🙂
For the longest time I would remove my makeup with makeup remover wipes. They are fine, quick and easy, but I noticed that my eyes were more sensitive to them and more of my eyelashes would be removed due to the constant friction of the back and forth wiping motion. I still use makeup wipes when I am on the go or traveling, but the best product that I have found is Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleansing Water. It is gentle to the skin, oil and fragrance free. It does sometimes take more time for me to remove my makeup, but I don’t mind. I decided to try this product out because I tried similar products by Lancome and Clinique but I did not like them that much. I found that they were more oil based and would irritate my eyes if I accidentally got some in them, plus they can be a bit pricey. This product can be found at drugstores and is less than half the price of the Lancome one.
To wash my face I have been using the Biore face wash. What I love about this product is that it has exfoliating beads in it so you don’t have to do extra exfoliating to the skin all the time. It is also oil free which is great for my oily skin. After I cleanse, I like to wipe my face with Witch Hazel. It is a natural astringent so I love to use it to get deep into my pores and clean out toxins. It can also be used to relieve irritated skin and of course for oily skin.
On days that I feel like I need more pampering, my favorite mask is the Origins Clear Improvement Mask. It is perfect for getting deep into the pore and purifying any imperfections. I also like to use my Conair cleansing brush. It works the same as the Clarisonic but a fraction of the price. When I use my cleansing brush I like to use a gentle face wash such as the Lancome Creme Radiance Clarifying Cleanser. To help remove blackheads the Biore Pore Strips are my go to.
Finally, moisturizer! When I was first introduced to skin care at age thirteen, Olay was the moisturizer my mom told me worked the best. She also told me it is what my grandmother and great-grandmother swore by. Mother’s know best! This moisturizer is light weight and I think it can be applied under makeup!
