Over the past year I have been consistently doing my makeup the same, maybe with some glam here or there. What I love about having a makeup routine is that when I am in a pinch for time, I already know what I am doing and all the products that I need is in one place.
This makeup look that I do takes me about ten minutes from start to finish. It is simple and looks a little more than a makeup-no-makeup look, but is subtle enough to still let natural beauty shine through.
Cleanse and Moisturize
As you already know, in order to start a fresh makeup look, it is pertinent that your face it cleansed and moisturized. I usually wash my face fully at night, and then in the morning just rinse with water. To wash my face there are multiple cleansers that I use dependent on how my skin looks. If my skin is not clear and has more acne, I like to use Biore because it has exfoliant beads which help the gently scrub the skin. If my face is more clear, I use Shiseido gentle cleanser which my best friend introduced me too.
Conceal and Powder
On a day to day basis, I do not use foundation. I like to use concealer to cover up my under eye bags and spot treat where I might have redness. My holy grail concealer is the Sephora collection one. It is a dryer formula so that means blending it out quickly with a damp sponge is best. To me it is medium to full coverage, but is build-able which is nice. After I conceal, I use Laura Mercier pressed translucent powder to set under my eyes and Covergirl loose powder for the rest of my face. The reason to use the Laura Mercier under my eyes specifically is because I tend to crease heavily there because I have a lot of fine lines. When started to use the Laura Mercier powder, I noticed that my makeup was lasting longer and my mascara from my bottom lashes was not transferring as easily.
Bronze, Blush, Highlight
These next three steps is when I start to see my base come together. To bronze my face, my favorite product is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. The color to me is just right to give my face a bit of color and slightly define my cheek bones. For blush, I like to try a new one every time I finish one so I can have more variety. Currently I am using Loréal True Match blush in the shade tender rose. I like it, but it does have a little bit of shimmer so I tone down my use of highlight. I have been using Jaclyn Hills Champagne Pop highlight. It is by far my favorite highlight! It compliments my skin so well and makes me look like I am glowing naturally.
Eyebrows, Lashes, Done!
Two of the most important components to completing a look are eyebrows and lashes! I do not generally fill in my eyebrows on a daily basis but like to use Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow gel to keep my brows looking neat. For lashes, my holy grail mascara is Loréal Voluminous. It makes my lashes look amazing. I have used other mascaras such as Too Faced Better than Sex, and Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara, however I always go back to Loréal (ps: the price is half of those high-end ones). For the finishing touch, I have been using Makeup Forever Mist & Fix just to insure that my makeup will last all day especially during this humid CT summer.
